UCR Extension Scholarships

As noted in the University of California, Riverside Extension's mission statement, it is our ongoing goal to support individuals as they push themselves beyond their personal boundaries, creating a stronger, more vibrant community. With that goal in mind, UC Riverside Extension is pleased to make available scholarship funds to support educational goals of the members of our community. Limited scholarships are available for programs that span all academic areas in amounts not to exceed $800, provided as credit toward enrollment fees.

Eligibility Requirements for Scholarship Applicants:

  1. You must be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States.
  2. Applicants must have completed at least 8 units within a UCR Extension certificate program by the start of the quarter in which the student is requesting to receive a scholarship (with the exception of students in intensive certificate programs requiring full-payment for the entire certificate up-front).
  3. Scholarships are awarded to currently enrolled students who are actively seeking the completion of a certificate program. You must have applied for candidacy to a certificate program at UCR Extension and competed coursework towards that certificate.
  4. You must have demonstrated academic excellence in previous certificate coursework.
  5. You must complete this application form and submit it online. Please attach to your application a student statement regarding the expected impact of the scholarship and program on career and professional goals.
  6. Preference is given to residents of Riverside and San Bernardino Counties.
  7. Scholarships are not awarded on the basis of financial need and applications are not to submit any financial documentation.

Typical awards are granted to fund one course towards a certificate program, not to exceed $800. You may not receive more than one scholarship from the UCR Extension Scholarship Fund.

The number and size of scholarships awarded is dependent on donations to the UCR Extension Scholarship Fund. All applications will be retained for one year in the event that new donations increase the size of the scholarship fund and additional awards can be made.

Scholarship application deadlines for each quarter:

  • Fall: August 15
  • Winter: December 1
  • Spring: March 1
  • Summer: May 15
